Bird Watching in the Kathmandu Valley

Bird Conservation Nepal organized the “Welcome to the Birds” (WTTB) event in collaboration with BCN Pokhara branch and Pokhara Bird Society (PBS) on 27 February 2017 at Fewa wetland Pokhara. In partnership with BirdLife International, Bird Conservation Nepal has started celebrating Welcome to the Birds event since 2014 in Nepal in order to do advocacy and awareness raising at a key sites for key species by reaching out to various audiences like school students, community people, birders, general public, government officials etc. The main objective of this event was to raise the awareness on migratory birds and conserving its habitats. In this event participants welcome Winter Migratory Birds at Fewa wetland, Pokhara. In this event altogether 40 participants were involved from BCN, PBS, TAAN, NMA, nature guide, birders and local people around the site. Rajendra Gurung, Jyotendra Thakuri and Krishna Bhusal from BCN and Manshant Ghimire from PBS briefed about event and facilitate on bird identification and monitoring. Bean Goose and Common Crane was the highlight of the day.  More than 30 species of water and wetlands dependent birds were observed during the event. Bird Watching in the Kathmandu Valley
