Chulu West Peak with the Classical Annapurna circuit fulfills the dream of every amateur climber who wishes to have the Himalayan summit's thrilling experience of lifetime with the magnificent views of Himalayas and Tibet just next to them. Chulu West Peak climbing is one of the challenging among the trekking peaks in Nepal that requires the greater commitment and previous trekking or climbing experience. You will be fully instructed by our experienced climbing guide on the techniques and use of crampons, ice axe, rope etc to give you the required skills and confidence to ensure you have every possible chance to summit the peak.

Chulu West Peak is one of the most beautiful trekking peaks of Nepal. To climb Chulu West Peak one requires having a sound heath and high level of physical fitness. Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport:

Your journey starts as you land at Tribhuvan International Airport, the main gateway to Nepal located in the capital city, Kathmandu.
The airport is named after King Tribhuvan and serves as the hub for international flights to and from Nepal.

Immigration and Customs:

After disembarking from your flight, proceed to the immigration counter to complete the necessary immigration formalities. Ensure you have your visa, passport, and other required documents ready for inspection.
Once through immigration, collect your baggage and proceed to the customs area for any additional checks.

Airport Arrival Area and Meeting Your Representative:

As you exit the airport arrival area, you'll likely be greeted by the hustle and bustle of the airport, where you will find a representative from Actual Adventure Pvt. Ltd or a person holding a signboard with your name. They will be there to welcome you and assist you with the transfer to your hotel.
It's common for us to arrange airport transfers for their clients.

Transfer to Hotel:

After meeting your representative, you'll be escorted to a waiting vehicle. The drive from Tribhuvan International Airport to your hotel in Kathmandu may take around 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.
Use this time to observe the cityscape and get your first glimpses of Kathmandu.

Hotel Check-in:

Upon reaching the hotel, you'll check in and receive a warm welcome from the hotel staff.
Complete the necessary check-in formalities, and you may be offered a welcome drink.

Rest and Refresh:

After the journey, take some time to rest and refresh in your room. You might want to freshen up before embarking on your trek.

Briefing Session:

Depending on your arrival time, there may be a pre-trek briefing session scheduled for the evening. During this session, your trekking guide will provide essential information about the trek, including the itinerary, safety guidelines, and any last-minute preparations.

Free Evening in Kathmandu:

The evening is usually free for you to explore Kathmandu on your own. You might choose to take a leisurely stroll, dine at a local restaurant, or simply relax at the hotel in Thamel.

Overnight in Kathmandu:

The day concludes with your first overnight stay after dinner in a Thamel restaurant. Rest well, as the next days will bring exciting adventures in the beautiful Himalayan region.

On the second day of your Chulu West Peak Climbing adventure, you'll focus on obtaining necessary permits, making final preparations, doing some last-minute shopping, and attending a comprehensive trek briefing. Here's a detailed description:

Morning: Breakfast and Permit Process:

Begin your day with a hearty breakfast at the hotel. This is an important meal to fuel yourself for the day's activities.
After breakfast, your trekking guide will assist you in completing any remaining paperwork and will lead you to the respective government offices to obtain the required permits for the Chulu West Peak Climbing.
Permit Process:

The permits you'll need typically include the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) and the Trekkers' Information Management System (TIMS) card. Additionally, if Chulu West Peak Climbing is part of your itinerary, a climbing permit for the peak will be obtained.
Preparation and Gear Check:

Return to the hotel after obtaining the permits, and use the remaining morning hours to recheck and organize your trekking gear. Ensure that you have all the necessary equipment, clothing, and personal items for the upcoming trek.
Your guide or a representative from the Actual Adventure Pvt.Ltd may assist you in checking and organizing your gear. They can also advise you on any additional items you might need.
Last-Minute Shopping:

If there are any items you still need or if you want to pick up some trekking essentials, you can use the afternoon to explore nearby shops and markets. Thamel, in Kathmandu, is a popular area for trekking gear shops, souvenir stores, and local markets.
Lunch:

You will have lunch at a local restaurant in Kathmandu where you can enjoy a variety of Nepalese or international cuisines to energize yourself for the remaining day's activities.


Afternoon Briefing Session:

In the afternoon, attend a comprehensive briefing session organized by your trekking guide. This session is crucial for understanding the trek itinerary, safety guidelines, and other essential information.
Your guide will provide insights into the trekking route, daily schedules, high-altitude challenges, and emergency procedures. This is also an opportunity to address any questions or concerns you may have.
Evening Leisure Time:

The evening is free for you to relax and prepare mentally for the trek ahead. You might want to double-check your backpack, charge electronic devices, and ensure you have all necessary documents safely stored.

 Dinner and Overnight Stay in Kathmandu:

Drive to Dharapani:

The drive from Kathmandu to Dharapani is a scenic journey that takes approximately 8-9 hours. The road conditions may vary, and the travel time depends on factors like weather and traffic.
You'll leave the bustling city of Kathmandu and travel westward, passing through picturesque landscapes, small villages, and terraced fields.
Lunch Break:

The journey includes a break for lunch at a local restaurant along the way. This is an opportunity to stretch your legs and enjoy a meal while taking in the surrounding scenery.
Passing Through Besi Sahar:

As you continue your drive, you may pass through Besi Sahar, a town and the district headquarters of the Lamjung District. This is a common entry point for trekkers heading to the Annapurna Circuit.
Arrival in Dharapani:

After 8-9 hours of driving, you will reach Dharapani, a village located in the Manang District that serves as a checkpoint for the Annapurna Circuit Trek. The drive typically concludes in the late afternoon or evening.
Upon arrival, check into a teahouse or lodge for your overnight stay. Dharapani offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and a taste of the local culture.
Rest and Refresh:

After the long drive, take some time to rest and refresh at your accommodation. Enjoy the mountainous ambiance and the peaceful surroundings of the village.
Evening Acclimatization and Exploration:

Use the evening to acclimatize to the higher altitude and explore the village of Dharapani.
Dinner and Overnight Stay in Dharapani:

In the evening, you will have dinner at the teahouse or lodge. Meals on the trek often include a variety of local dishes to suit different preferences and dietary needs where as international dishes are limited in trek route.  After dinner, you will retire to your room for a good night's rest.

Morning Breakfast and Trek Start:

Trek to Bagarchhap:

The trail initially takes you through the charming village of Dharapani, and you'll gradually ascend through rhododendron forests and terraced fields.
After a few hours of trekking, you'll reach Bagarchhap, a picturesque village with traditional Tibetan-style houses and prayer wheels. Take a break to explore the village and its cultural elements.

Lunch Break:

Either at  Bagarchhap or other place, you will stop for lunch at a teahouse or local eatery. Enjoy a hot meal while resting and refueling for the afternoon trek.

Continuation to Koto:

After having lunch, continue the trek, passing through pine forests and enjoying views of the surrounding mountains. The trail may offer glimpses of Manaslu and other peaks.
Reaching to Koto, a small village along the trail, and take some time to rest and continue your trek to Chame.

Trek to Chame:

The trek from Koto to Chame involves a mix of landscapes, including forests, suspension bridges, and charming villages. As you approach Chame, the scenery opens up, and you'll be treated to panoramic views of the Annapurna and Manaslu mountain ranges.
Cross the Marshyangdi River on a suspension bridge before arriving in Chame, where you'll find more extensive facilities compared to the smaller villages on the trail.


Arrival in Chame:

In the evening , you will reach to Chame where you check into a teahouse or lodge for your overnight stay.
After settling in, take a stroll around Chame to explore the town and acclimatize to the higher altitude.
Dinner, Evening Relaxation and Overnight Stay in Chame:

After the refreshment, you will enjoy a traditional Nepali dinner at the teahouse or lodge. Then you will be free to relax. You may choose to share experiences with fellow trekkers, read, or simply enjoy the serene atmosphere.
Afterward, you will retire to your room for a good night's rest.

Today after wholesome breakfast at the teahouse in Chame, you will move toward Pisang.   Ensure that you're well-prepared for the day's trek with proper gear and essentials.
Meet your trekking guide, and begin the trek towards Pisang.


Trek through Forests and Villages:

The trail from Chame to Pisang takes you through dense forests of pine and oak. You'll trek along the Marshyangdi River, crossing suspension bridges and passing through charming villages.
Visit Upper Pisang:

The trek will lead you to Upper Pisang. Take some time to explore the Upper Pisang area and its unique cultural attractions, which will help your legs to rest. 
Lunch Break:

You will stop for lunch at a teahouse or local eatery along the trail. This break allows you to rest and refuel, enjoying a meal with the backdrop of Himalayan landscapes.
Continue to Pisang:

After having lunch, resume your trek towards the main village of Pisang. The trail offers stunning vistas of Annapurna II and III, Gangapurna, and Tilicho Peak.
Pisang is divided into Lower Pisang (Pisang Bazaar) and Upper Pisang. Your overnight stay is typically in Lower Pisang.
Arrival in Pisang:

Upon reaching Pisang, you will check into a teahouse or lodge for your overnight stay. Take some time to rest, unwind, and enjoy the mountain views from Pisang.
Explore Pisang:

In the evening, you can visit local monasteries, interact with the friendly villagers, and immerse yourself in the unique culture of the region.
Dinner and Overnight Stay in Pisang:

 At dinner time, you wil be called out by hotel staff or your guide. After everyone is ready, you will enjoy dinner at the teahouse. After dinner, you will have time to rest and relax. Soon after, you will retire to your room for a restful sleep.

Upper Pisang and Ghyaru Option:

Depending on the trekking itinerary and your acclimatization needs, you may have the option to take a detour to Upper Pisang or visit the nearby village of Ghyaru. Both routes provide additional opportunities to experience the local culture and enjoy panoramic views.


Lunch Break:

You will pause for lunch at a teahouse or eatery along the trail. This break allows you to rest, refuel, and take in the surrounding mountain scenery.
Scenic Views of Annapurna Range:

As you continue towards Manang, the trail unveils breathtaking views of the Annapurna range, including Annapurna II, III, and IV, as well as Gangapurna and Tilicho Peak. 
Arrival in Manang:

After 5-6 hours of trekking from Pisang, you will arrive at Manang. You will check into a teahouse for your overnight stay. Upon arrival, take some time to rest and acclimatize to the higher altitude.

In the late afternoon, explore Manang village. Visit the local monasteries, engage with the friendly locals, and take in the serene atmosphere of this Himalayan settlement.

Dinner and Overnight Stay in Manang:

You will enjoy dinner at the teahouse, share experiences with fellow trekkers, and enjoy the warmth of local hospitality.
The evening is free for relaxation. Afterward, retire to your room for restful sleep.

Trek to Gunsang and Yak Kharka:

Letdar, situated at an elevation of 4,230 meters, is your destination for the day. Check into a teahouse or lodge for your overnight stay. The village is nestled in a valley surrounded by towering peaks, providing a unique and awe-inspiring setting.
Rest and Acclimatization:

Spend the afternoon resting and acclimatizing to the higher altitude. It's essential to stay hydrated and be attentive to any signs of altitude-related discomfort. Relax in the tranquil surroundings of Letdar.
Enjoy the Mountain Views:

Letdar offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains, and you may witness the changing hues of the landscape as the day progresses. Take some time to appreciate the beauty of the Himalayas.
Dinner and Evening Relaxation:

The trail from Letdar to Chulu West Base Camp involves a steady ascent through alpine landscapes. As you gain elevation, the terrain becomes rockier, and the air thinner. Pay attention to your pace, and take breaks as needed for acclimatization.
Spectacular Mountain Views:

Arrival at Chulu West Base Camp:

After 3-4 hours of trekking, you will reach Chulu West Base Camp, located at an elevation of 4,810 meters. This will be your home for the night as you prepare for the ascent of Chulu West Peak. You will  check into the base camp accommodations, usually basic tents and take some time to rest.
Acclimatization and Preparation:

Spend the afternoon acclimatizing to the higher altitude and preparing for the climb. It's crucial to hydrate, eat well, and ensure you have all the necessary gear for the summit push. Your guide may provide a briefing on the upcoming climb and safety protocols.

Day 9: Summit Attempt:

Early in the morning, you will start your ascent of Chulu West Peak. The climb involves navigating challenging terrain, including snow and ice sections. Rely on your climbing equipment and the guidance of experienced climbing Sherpas or guides. Reach the summit and savor the breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks. Take memorable photos to capture the achievement then descend carefully back to Chulu West Base Camp for a well-deserved rest.
Days 10-12: Contingency and Rest Days:

These days serve as contingency or rest days, allowing flexibility in case of unfavorable weather conditions or the need for additional acclimatization. Use this time to recover from the summit attempt, rest at the base camp, and engage in activities that support acclimatization and physical well-being. Your climbing guide may provide additional training or briefings for the descent or any remaining climbing activities.
Day 13: Return to Base Camp:

If not done earlier, dismantle the high-altitude camp and start the descent back to Chulu West Base Camp. The return journey may take several hours, and it's crucial to navigate safely through the challenging terrain.
Upon reaching the base camp, check into the tented camp, where you'll spend the night. Reflect on the climbing experience and enjoy the camaraderie with fellow climbers.
Tented Camp Accommodations:

Accommodations in the tented camp at the base are likely to be basic, providing shelter and necessary amenities. Tented camps are set up to offer a comfortable stay amid the high-altitude environment.
Rest and Recovery:

Morning: Early Start and Descent:

You will begin the day with an early start from Chulu West Base Camp descend towards lower elevations after a substantial breakfast.
The initial part of the trek may involve navigating rocky and uneven terrain as you make your way back to the main trail.
Passing through Letdar and Yak Kharka:

You will revisit Letdar and Yak Kharka as you retrace your steps along the trail and move towards Thorung Phedi.  This section of the trek provides a different perspective of the landscapes you encountered during the ascent.
Lunch Break:

You will stop for lunch at a teahouse or suitable spot along the trail. Take this break to rest, refuel, and enjoy the surroundings.
Continue to Thorung Phedi:

Resume the trek towards Thorung Phedi. The trail may involve some steep sections as you make your way to the Phedi (foot) of Thorung La Pass.
Arrival in Thorung Phedi:

After 5-6 hours of trekking, you will reach Thorung Phedi in the late afternoon. This is a crucial acclimatization stop before crossing Thorung La Pass where you will check into a teahouse or lodge.
Rest and Acclimatization:

You will spend the remainder of the day resting and acclimatizing to the altitude. It's essential to hydrate well and be mindful of any signs of altitude-related discomfort.
Dinner and Overnight Stay in Thorung Phedi:

You will have dinner at the teahouse, where meals are designed to provide the necessary energy for the upcoming pass crossing. Consult with your trekking guide for any additional guidance on preparation. After dinner, you will take some rest if possible and then retire to your bed for a good night's sleep.

Early Morning Start:

You will begin the day with a very early start, usually before dawn, to ensure ample time for crossing Thorung La Pass. Before depart, eat a hearty breakfast at the teahouse in Thorung Phedi and prepare for a challenging day of trekking.
Ascend to Thorung La Pass:

The trek from Thorung Phedi to Thorung La Pass is a steep and demanding ascent. The trail zigzags its way up the mountainside, and the air becomes thinner as you gain altitude.
Thorung La Pass, standing at an elevation of 5,416 meters (17,769 feet), is the highest point on the Annapurna Circuit. Take your time during the ascent, and stay well-hydrated.
Panoramic Views from Thorung La:

Reaching the top of Thorung La Pass is a significant accomplishment. Enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. The prayer flags fluttering in the wind add a spiritual touch to the pass.
Descend to Muktinath:

The descent from Thorung La Pass to Muktinath is equally challenging, involving a steep trail with loose scree and rocky sections. Be cautious while descending, and use trekking poles for stability.
As you descend, the landscapes change, and you'll notice the transition from alpine terrain to arid landscapes.
Arrival in Muktinath:

After several hours of trekking, you will reach Muktinath, a sacred pilgrimage site for Hindus and Buddhists, in the late afternoon or early evening. Muktinath is known for its ancient temple, hot springs, and the 108 water spouts believed to cleanse pilgrims. Here, you can check into a teahouse or lodge  for your overnight stay.
Rest and Refresh:

After the long and challenging trek, take some time to rest and refresh in Muktinath. The cool mountain air and the spiritual atmosphere of the area create a unique ambiance.
Dinner in Muktinath:

You will have a dinner at a local teahouse or lodge, savoring a meal that combines local flavors with the satisfaction of completing the challenging Thorung La Pass crossing.
Overnight Stay in Muktinath:

You will spend the night in Muktinath, surrounded by the sacred and serene atmosphere of the region.

Morning visit to Muktinath Temple:

In early morning, without breakfast, you will visit to Muktinath temple for workship goddess and return to your lodge where you do hearty breakfast. Then after, you will preparing for the trekking to Jomsom.


Trek to Jomsom:  

There are two options to reach Jomsom. One is via Kagbeni, and the other is a shortcut route to Jomsom. We chose the second option as it is an easy and exploratory route. The initial part of the trek involves a descent from Muktinath to Jomsom. The trail winds through arid landscapes, and you may encounter the Kali Gandaki River along the way.
Scenic Trail to Jomsom:

As you continue the trek towards Jomsom, the trail takes you through picturesque villages, apple orchards, and barren landscapes. The views of Nilgiri and Dhaulagiri mountains accompany you on the journey.
Kagbeni Exploration (Optional):

If you want to explore Kagbeni, inform your guide about your interest. They will guide you there. Kagbeni is a charming village with ancient architecture and cultural significance.
Lunch Break:

 You will stop for lunch at a teahouse or local eatery along the trail where you enjoy a restful break and refuel for the remaining trek to Jomsom.
Continuation to Jomsom:

The trail continues along the Kali Gandaki River, and you'll pass through Ekle Bhatti before reaching Jomsom. The landscape in this region is characterized by the windy Kali Gandaki Valley.
Arrival in Jomsom:

After 7-8 hours of trek, you'll reach Jomsom, a major town in the Mustang region, situated at an altitude of 2,743 meters. Jomsom is known for its unique landscapes, apple orchards, and the gateway to the Upper Mustang region.


Check-in and Rest:

After arriving Jomsom, you will check into a teahouse or lodge for your overnight stay in Jomsom. Rest and freshen up after the day's trek, enjoying the relative lower altitude compared to the previous days.
Dinner in Jomsom:

Morning Flight from Jomsom to Pokhara:

You will start your day early in Jomsom. After breakfast, you will head to the Jomsom airport for a scenic flight to Pokhara. The flight provides stunning views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges as you soar above the Kali Gandaki Valley.
The flight is a short, approximately 30-minute journey, landing at Pokhara's domestic airport.
Arrival in Pokhara:

Lunch in Pokhara:

Best Time to trek Annapurna Region. 

The best time to climb Chulu West Peak is during autumn (September- November) and Spring (March – May). Annapurna Region is beautiful throughout the year but during these seasons you get to see the most beautiful pictures of Annapurna Region. Some of the places of Annapurna Region like Upper Mustang, Muktinath, Kagbeni and Jomsom can be visited any time during the year. 

Autumn in Annapurna Region 

Autumn season gives you the most favorable weather for trekking with warm and dry climate. Autumn seasons falls during the months of September, October and November. Autumn season is also the season of festivals. You can feel the festival vibes everywhere while trekking in Nepal during Autumn. On the other hand you can get the best pictures while trekking Annapurna Region during Autumn Season. 

Spring in Annapurna Region

Spring in Nepal is regarded as one of the best season for trekking and mountain climbing. Spring season occurs in Nepal in the months of March, April and May. You can have a heavenly experience trekking in Annapurna Region during spring. You can see varieties of blooming wild floras and forests blanketed with rhododendron flowers during your trials. The mountains look absolutely stunning and the temperature is warm and moderate. You can expect lots of trekkers during the trial during spring season in Annapurna region.

Summer in Annapurna Region

Summer season is not very popular season for trekking in Annapurna Region. Summer season in Nepal takes place in between the months of June to August. The monsoon seasons combines with summer in Nepal. Thus, Nepal receives a wet summer with hot temperature. Although the temperature gets cooler as you gain altitude but the trials can be affected by heavy rainfall and mudslides.  However, some of the regions which lie in the rain-shadow area like Upper Mustang, Jomsom, and Muktinath can be visited throughout the year. If you love challenges and thrill then this season can be the best for you to explore Annapurna Region. In spite of the challenges you can get the best views and true colors of nature while trekking to Annapurna Region during summer.  

Winter in Annapurna Region

Winter Season takes place in Nepal in the months of December to February. Since it is freezing cold and some of the high passes are closed in the higher altitudes due to snow this season is not recommend for trekking in Annapurna Region. However, if you want to enjoy peaceful trekking trials with fewer trekkers then you can choose this season with proper gears and clothing equipment. Despite the challenges, the winter season in Annapurna Region gives you the best view of snowcapped mountains.

You can book our trip in all seasons but spring and autumn season is the best season for mountaineering. We request you to book your trip 3 or 4 weeks before your arrival for Peak Climbing and mountaineering and 4 months earlier for serious climbing and expedition.

The payment policy and procedure for trip booking in our company is as below.

20% of the total amount of the trip should be sent for advance booking for peak climbing.

       

50% of total amount of the trip should be sent for advance booking for serious climbing.

Spring and autumn are the two best seasons for climbing and mountaineering.

The difficulty level of trip depends upon the region you choose. Nepal has varieties of mountain and snow covered peaks ranging from moderate to difficult.

Your travel insurance must cover any kind of sickness, loss due to theft, injury, delay; inconveniences or any other and the company should not have any liabilities for your personal loss. Since you cannot get travel insurance in Nepal you need to bring it with yourself.

The chance of getting sick is high in the mountains during trekking and climbing. In case of sickness, we do basic treatments, our guides and all staffs are well trained about the sickness and its primary treatments. Our guide carries some medical kits and it is also essential to keep basic medical kits yourself. If the sickness arises from high altitude, we have to get back to low altitude first. If the basic treatment does not work, and if you get more serious, we will immediately arrange a helicopter rescue to get back Kathmandu.

Normally you need to walk about 5-6 hours per day. The walk depends on your speed and the distance to the next stop for overnight. You don’t have to walk for long hours our guides will let you to walk slowly and enjoy your trials.

Trekking grades are categorized in terms of its difficulties level from Moderate to Adventurous, Challenging and Serious

Adventurous Climbing: Climbers who have little ice climbing experience to climb mountains in Nepal such as popular peak.  

Challenging Climbing: Challenging climbing is only for the experienced climber who already have mountaineering experience.  Adventurous, close from mountains, altitudes above 6500m. Best examples of challenging climbing are – Amadablam, Brauntase, and Gangapurna etc.      

Serious Climbing: This Climbing is very hard and technically difficult only for the climber who already conquers the 7000 m height Himalaya of Nepal. Expedition in Nepalese mountains, above 7500m and above mountains.

Island Peak (Imja Tse) is often considered one of the easiest trekking peaks in the Himalayas.
