Dudhkunda  Cultural trekking is believed to be newly opened trekking destinations in solukhumbu region. It is popular trekking trail in SoluKhumbu region. Dudh Kunda Lake meaning the milky lake is situated at the foot of Number Himal, locally it is known as Shorong Yul Lha, meaning the protector of Solu region. It is believed to be a holy lake and the locals believe that taking a dip in the holy waters will have the wishes granted. While trekking to the area, you also can enjoy and see the panoramic views of snow capped mountains including of Mt. Everest, Number and other mountains lying along the areas. Besides that you also can explore the Rhododendron flowers, pine tree, wild animals such as mountain Thars, Bear, Leopard, Jackle, birds like pheasant and the obviously the Milky lake.

Similarly, you will also be able to capture the sceneries of sunrise and sunset from Pikey hill, which is considered to be the one of the tallest hill of Solu. The name Pikey is derived from the name of Sherpa language which means a clan deity. During July, the locals hold celebrations to worship this particular clan deity. This peak offers the majestic view of Mt. Everest and other Himalayas lying around. Besides, that the Pikey hill also offers breathtaking sunrise and sunset views during the good weather. The trail passes through the most beautiful settlements of Sherpa and Rai ethnic communities’ settlement in the region. You can visit ancient Buddhist monastery such as Thupten Chholing Gompa and enjoy with unique Sherpa and Rai ethnic peoples’ culture, lifestyle and picturesque landscapes. The trekking to the Dudhkunda and Pikey hill takes you through dense forests of rhododendron and a variety of wildlife. The trekking to the area begins form Jiri after having 7-8 hours driving from Kathmandu and continues to Solu Khumbu and making excursion to the Dudhakunda, Pikey hill, the trail end in Phaplu airport and fly back to Katmandu.

Day 1: Arrival in Katmandu (1,300m/4265ft.)

Actual Adventure will officially welcoming and meet you at Airport & transport by private vehicle to comfort hotel. You will have leisure time, followed by an evening welcome dinner at a typical Nepalese Restaurant and discuss about the trip, in Kathmandu overnight (1,300m/4265ft.).

Day 2: Katmandu Valley Sightseeing

Half-day Cultural city tours, Kathmandu Durbar Squar, Pashupati Nath, Syambunath & Buddha Nath- Buddish & Hindus temples - The biggest Buddha Stupa in Kathmandu valley. Afternoon trekking Guide (Sherpa) will come to meet you for next day departure Information at hotel, in Kathmandu (1,300m/4265ft.).

Day 3: Drive to Shivalaya (1810m. /5938ft.)

It’s about 8 hours drive to shivalaya. Its beautiful drive through many different village, rivers, bhanjyang, deurali etc. when road goes up we will see panoramic view of the hills, village and valley. Then you will reach the Shivalaya which place is located bank of Khimti River. Stay overnight in Shivalaya.

Day 4: Shivalaya to Bhandar(2400m./7874ft.)

It’s about 6 hours walk to Bhandar. You will walk through the many different villages, different cultures and Jungle as well. First part you will have to climb up till a little pass Deurali(2705m./8875ft.) then walk down to Bhandar. Such an excellent view from Deurali. Bhandar is beautiful place with lots of tea gardens and many things they grow there. You will enjoy the place. And stay overnight in Bhandar.

Day 5: Bhandar to Namkheti(2300m./17355ft.)

It’s about 7 hours walk to Namkheti. First couple of hours you descend trail to Likhu river then you will cross the Bridge then you will start to climb up to Namklheti through the many different villages. It’s really great walk through villages and sees their culture and typical Nepali village life. While you are passing these villages you will see Kshetri, Brahaman, Sherpa, Newar, and many more different cast and their all the different culture as well. Stay overnight in Namkheti village.

Day 6: Namkheti to Naur Gompa (2900m./9514ft.)

It’s about 6 to 7 hours walk from Namkheti to Naur Gompa. You will walk through the village and crops field. Today normally you will climb up. This is sherpa village with Buddhism culture. Visit the monastery and go to pray and learn their interesting culture. Stay overnight in nice place Naur Gompa.

Day 7:Naur Gompa to Pikey Danda(4070m./13353ft.)

It’s about 4 hours walk to Pikey Danda. Pikey Danda is the one of the best place to see the panoramic view of the mountains and valley. This is the place from where you can see the top of the world Mt.Everest and many other mountains. There also you can visit the cheese factory where they make himalayan yak cheese. Stay overnight in hill with such a great view and stars light at night as well.

Day 8: Pikey Danda to Junbesi village (2580m./8464ft.)

It’s about 7 hours walk today. You will walk through the jungle, hill and villages. It’s such a great walk today while you are passing the way from jungle you will have chance to see wild animals and of course many different birds. Junbesi is such a beautiful village. There are few monasteries and many Chorten as well. Enjoy the Buddhist culture and local food. Stay overnight in Junbesi village.

Day 9: Junbesi village to Thupten Chholing Gompa (3000m./9842ft.)

It’s about 3 hours walk to Thupten Chholing Gompa. Trail to Gompa from Junbesi is very beautiful and pass the several villages and potato field. Thupten Chholing Gompa is the place where most of the monks live there. It’s big monastery and there are many monks that they came from Tibet long time ago. There you can go to pray in the morning and evening in the monastery. You will enjoy the being here.

Day 10: Thupten Chholing Gompa to Veri Kharka

It’s about 6 hours walk to Veri Kharka. We start to walk to the Dudhkunda Lake and we can’t get village couple of days so we will stay in the jungle. It’s really great path with incredible view and landscape. You will have fun to do this trekking, stay in the jungle on tent. You will see the wild animals and many birds.

Day 11: Veri Kharka to Dudhkunda Lake

It’s about 6 hours walk to Dudhkunda Lake. You will see the beautiful holy lake Dudhkunda Lake on lap of the Numbur Himal. You will stay two nights in Dudhkunda Lake. This is your destination for for this trekking so enjoy the being here and such an incredible view.

Day 12: Explore day in Dudhkunda

This is free day in Dudhkunda Lake so walk around the lake and go up to view point. This is the great Hindu people holy place so pray for your bright future, and visit the temple as well. You will see such a nice sunrise and sun set from Dudhkunda. Enjoy the nature and culture.

Day 13:Dudhkunda Lake to Barkhe Kharka

It’s about 7 hours walk down to Barkhe Kharka. Today trails goes normally downhill through the jungle and some bare hill. After the Dudhkunda lake you will feel almost finished the trekking. Stay overnight in Barkhe kharka.

Day 14: Barkhe Kharka to Chiwang Gompa

It’s about 5 hours walk to Chiwang gompa. Such a great walk to the chiwang gompa. Chiwang Gompa is located in hill with best view and incredible place. Chiwang monastery is really nice monastery. You will feel great to be here. Visit the monastery and see their culture. Stay overnight in Chiwang Gompa.

Day 15: Chiwang Gompa to Phaplu

Then last day walk about 3 hours to Phaplu airport. In the afternoon walk to the sallery market where located district headquarter of solukhumbu, its half an hour walk from phaplu. The walk back to phaplu and in the evening make last day party in Phaplu and thank for the all the staff and Goodbye to them with hoping to see them again. Stay overnight there

Day 16: Fly back to Katmandu

In the morning it’s about 35 minutes fly to Katmandu. Actual adventure will pick up you from the airport and transfer to the hotel. Be fresh in Katmandu after two weeks trekking in mountain and enjoy the walking around in Katmandu.

Day 17: Kathmandu

Free day in Kathmandu, buy souvenir for friends and family. In the evening Actual adventure will take you to the last day farewell dinner in Kathmandu and enjoy the last dinner in Kathmandu.

Day 18: Departure

Departure for your home with great experience in Himalayan kingdom and such a great memory in your life. Actual adventure drop you to the airport and Goodbye to you with hoping to see you again…once is not enough.”Many people are happy to come in Nepal but they are sad to leave Nepal”.
