Ghalegaon Tara Top Trek - 10 days


Ghalegoan situated at the altitude of 2070m from the sea level is an exotic village which is 205km northwest of Kathmandu and 125km northeast of Pokhara. Home to famous Gurkha soldiers, Ghalegaon is known for its unpredictable natural beauty which is finely blended with unspoiled ethnic lifestyle and cultural practices.

Ghalegaon Tara Top trek goes through Gurung settlements nestled amidst mountains, rivers, streams, waterfalls and green forest and grants the unsurpassed Himalayan beauty of Machhapuchhare, Annapurna, Annapurna II, Annapurna IV, Lamjung Himal, Bouddha Himal, Hiunchuli and many others.


Day 01: Kathmandu Arrival

As soon as you land on the Tribhuwan International Airport our representative will pick you and transfer to the hotel.

Day 02: Fly to Pokhara and trek to Karuwa (1380m); trek for 3-4hours

Early in the morning we will drive to Tribhuwan International Airport to board a flight to the Lake city of Pokhara. We will have our lunch and start the trek following the Seti river valley through the farmlands to the settlement of Kharpani. Continuing the trek we will arrive to our campsite in the outskirts of Karuwa which is an identical Gurung settlement.

Day 03: Trek to Ghalegaon (1641m); 6-7hours

We will start the trek through the low level farmland and as we cross our first suspension bridge the trail gradually climbs up. Making our way through the village of Bhara bhuri we will follow the path going through the middle of forest and offering the vista of Sardi Valley. The trail descends down to 300m to a riverside where we will stop to have lunch. After lunch the trail goes up to our camping site in to a big Gurung settlement of Ghalegaon which offers the magnificent view of Annapurna massif.

Day 04: Trek to Tara Top (2800m); 7-8 hours

Today the trail goes steeply up through the alpine meadows and rhododendron forests to the grassy forested hillock of Tara top. From here one can witness the 360degree panorama of Annapurna massif including Langtang Himal and Machhapuchhare. Our camping site will be at the altitude of 2800m.

Day 05: Trek to Parju (1760m); 5-6hours

Today the trail goes through the shady rhododendron forest with hanging mosses, lichens and different species of wild orchids to the scenic Gurung village of Parju situated in the lap of snowy peaks. We will reach Parju in the early afternoon so if you are interested you can hike to picturesque village of Siklis (1999m) or you can just relax in the high pastures.

Day 06: Trek to Lamakhet (870m); 7-8hours

The trail steeply goes downhill into a valley through the terraced slopes. Making our way following Mardi River along with the astonishing vista of Annapurna II we will arrive our camp site which is situated just above the river in the village of Lamakhet.

Day 07: Trek to Nayapool (1340m); 3-4hours and drive back to Pokhara

This last day of trek goes the interesting villages inhabited by Gurung, Brahmin and Chettri communities. Making our way through the steep rocky hills and terraced slopes the trail descends to Nayapool. From Nayapool we will catch a ride back to Pokhara. Stay Overnight at hotel in Pokhara.

Day 08: Fly back to Kathmandu

We will take a short airstrip through the Himalayas from Pokhara to Kathmandu. As we reach Kathmandu we will indulge ourselves in the sights, sounds and smell of this historic city. We will pay our visit to Bouddhanath Stupa, Pashupatinath temple and Kathmandu and Patan Durbar square. Stay overnight in hotel.

Day 09: Free day in Kathmandu

Today we can enjoy either shopping or sightseeing or simply have rest.

Day 1o: Farewell

You will be transferred to Tribhuwan International airport for your onward journey.
