Nepal is home to some of the world’s most stunning and remote trekking regions. However, not all trails are open for independent trekkers. Certain trekking destinations are classified as Restricted Areas by the Government of Nepal due to their geopolitical sensitivity, cultural importance, and environmental fragility.
Restricted Area Trekking in Nepal requires a special trekking permit and must be done through a registered trekking agency like Actual Adventure Pvt. Ltd., along with a licensed guide and sometimes a liaison officer.
The primary reasons for restricting these regions include:
Trekking in a restricted area is only possible by obtaining a Special Restricted Area Trekking Permit from the Department of Immigration, Nepal. These permits are not issued to solo trekkers and cannot be obtained at the airport or checkpoints.
Actual Adventure Pvt. Ltd. is a licensed trekking company authorized to handle all logistics including permits, guides, liaison officers, and itinerary management for restricted area treks.
