The climbing period begins with thorough preparations and acclimatization. Climbers will engage in shorter climbs to higher altitudes, gradually acclimatizing their bodies to the reduced oxygen levels.

Base Camp Activities:

While not actively climbing, base camp serves as a hub for various activities. Climbers and the support team will review climbing techniques, safety procedures, and assess weather conditions. Additionally, time is spent on physical conditioning and rest.

Climbing Camps Establishment:

Advanced Base Camp (ABC) and higher camps are established to provide strategic points for climbers to acclimatize and stage their ascent. Each camp is stocked with necessary equipment, supplies, and tents.

Acclimatization Rotations:

Climbers undertake acclimatization rotations, which involve climbing to higher camps and then descending to lower altitudes for rest. This process is repeated to enhance the body's ability to function in low oxygen conditions.

Camp 1 (5700 m) and Camp 2 (6400 m):

Climbers progress to higher altitudes, reaching Camp 1 and Camp 2. These camps are crucial for acclimatization and serve as staging points for the final ascent.

Skills Training:

Climbers receive training on essential skills, including ice and rock climbing techniques, rope work, and safety procedures. This ensures that everyone is well-prepared for the challenges of the higher elevations.

Weather Monitoring:

Continuous monitoring of weather conditions is essential. Climbing teams stay informed about forecasts, identifying optimal windows for the summit push while avoiding unfavorable weather patterns.

Summit Push Preparation:

As the climbing team progresses through the acclimatization process, preparations intensify for the summit push. Gear checks, final briefings, and mental conditioning become focal points.

Summit Push (Day 35-38):

The summit push is a carefully orchestrated effort. Climbers embark on the final ascent, navigating challenging terrain, including crevasses and steep slopes. The push is typically broken into stages, with overnight stays at higher camps.

Summit Day (Day 38):

The pinnacle of the climbing period is summit day. Climbers begin the final push to the summit during the early hours of the morning. The ascent is physically demanding, and climbers draw on their training and determination to reach the summit.

Summit Celebrations:

Reaching the summit is a moment of triumph. Climbers take in the breathtaking views from the highest point on Manaslu, celebrating their accomplishment and reflecting on the challenges overcome.

Descent:

The descent is equally crucial for safety. Climbers carefully navigate the terrain, returning to lower camps and eventually to Base Camp. The descent requires concentration and endurance.

Post-Climb Reflection:

After the climb, there's time for reflection and camaraderie at Base Camp. Climbers share their experiences, and there may be celebratory gatherings to mark the successful ascent of Mount Manaslu.

Base Camp Cleanup:

Base Camp cleanup is an integral part of responsible climbing. Climbers, along with support staff, ensure that the environment is left in pristine condition.
