itinerary for a 12-day trek, with an option to extend it to 14 days


Day 1: Kathmandu to Besisahar (820m) to Jagat (1,300m)

    Travel: Drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar (approximately 6-7 hours).
    Trek: Jeep or bus ride to Jagat (4-5 hours).

Day 2: Jagat to Dharapani (1,960m)

    Trek: Approximately 6-7 hours through terraced fields, forest, and small villages.

Day 3: Dharapani to Chame (2,710m)

    Trek: Approximately 5-6 hours. Pass through forests and gain views of Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal.

Day 4: Chame to Pisang (3,300m)

    Trek: Approximately 5-6 hours. Walk through a forested path with views of the Paungda Danda rock face.

Day 5: Pisang to Manang (3,540m)

    Trek: Approximately 5-6 hours. Choose the lower or upper route; the upper route offers better views of the Annapurna range.

Day 6: Acclimatization Day in Manang

    Rest: Explore the village, visit the monastery, or hike to Gangapurna Lake or the Ice Lake for acclimatization.

Day 7: Manang to Yak Kharka (4,020m)

    Trek: Approximately 4-5 hours. Gradual ascent to allow for acclimatization.

Day 8: Yak Kharka to Thorong Phedi (4,450m)

    Trek: Approximately 3-4 hours. Shorter day to prepare for the next day’s early start and high pass crossing.

Day 9: Thorong Phedi to Thorong La Pass (5,416m) to Muktinath (3,800m)

    Trek: Long and challenging day, approximately 7-9 hours. Cross the Thorong La Pass, the highest point of the trek, and descend to Muktinath.

Day 10: Muktinath to Jomsom (2,720m)

    Trek: Approximately 5-6 hours. Visit the Muktinath temple and then trek down to the windy town of Jomsom.

Day 11: Jomsom to Pokhara

    Travel: Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara (approximately 20 minutes) or take a jeep/bus (6-8 hours).

Day 12: Pokhara to Kathmandu

    Travel: Drive or fly back to Kathmandu (approximately 6-7 hours by bus or 25 minutes by flight).

Option to Extend (2 Additional Days)

Day 13: Explore Pokhara

    Rest and Recreation: Enjoy the beautiful city of Pokhara, visit Phewa Lake, Davis Falls, and the World Peace Pagoda.

Day 14: Extra Acclimatization Day in Manang

    Additional Acclimatization: Spend an extra day in Manang to further acclimatize and explore the surroundings.

Important Notes:

    Permits:

Ensure you have the necessary permits, including the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) and the Trekkers' Information Management System (TIMS) card.  

Weather and Season:

Best times to trek are during the pre-monsoon (March to May) and post-monsoon (September to November) seasons.

Altitude Sickness:

Acclimatization is crucial. Stay hydrated and aware of altitude sickness symptoms.
   

Accommodation and Food:

Tea houses and lodges are available along the route, providing basic accommodation and meals.
