Overview of Dhaulagiri ( 8167 m ) Expedition

Mount Dhaulagiri is the Seventh highest mountain in the world. It lays to the north-west of Pokhara and to the east of the Annapurna Himalayas range. It is about 34 km away from Mt. Annapurna I. The word “Dhaulagiri” is a combination of “Dhaula” and “Giri” in Sanskrit Language.

“Dhaula” means dazzling, white, beautiful and “Giri” is mountain. Dhaulagiri I is also the highest point of the Gandaki river basin. It was tried to climb for more than five times and finally eight team member of Swiss conquered the summit in 1960.

Dhaulagiri Mountain has an altitude of 8167 meters above sea level and it lies in the north west of Myagdi district of Nepal.  The first successful ascent of the mountain was done by Kurt Diemberger, Peter Diener, Nawang Dorje, Nima Dorje, Ernst Forrer and Albin Schelbert on 13 May 1960. The first winter ascent was done by Andrzejczok and Jerzy Kukuczka on 21 January 1985. The peak is famous for its technically challenging routes and unique shape. 

Most of the Dhaulagiri Expedition till the date is done by north-east route by which the first expedition was done but it can be done by every route. The trip starts with a drive to Beni and from there the trek starts in splendid trials until we reach to the base camp. You will be guided by our experienced and well trained guides throughout your journey.

After arrival at Tribhuwan international airport Kathmandu, The representative of Actual Adventure Pvt. Ltd. will help you to take you and check at the hotel and will brief you about your daily activities. Night at desire hotel in Katmandu


In this day we will do some preparation class and you will have a brief by guide


Today we will drive to Pokhara. The drive takes about 5 to 6 hours from Kathmandu to reach Pokhara. 

Drive form Kathmandu to Pokhara which will take 5 to 6 hour. And again drive to Beni which will take 5 to 6 hours. Over night at hotel

We have to take a short trek from Galeshwor to Tatopani.

We have to take a short trek from Tatopani to ghasa.

We have to take a short trek from Larjung to Marpha.

We have to take a short trek from Marpha to Yak khark

We have to take a short trek from Yak khark to Dhaulagiri base camp


In this period we climb the mountain.

In this day we prepare for getting back.

We will have a travel from jomsom to pokhara by flight which will take about 20 min.


We will have a travel from pokhara by flight which will take about 30 min. Or you can have a road travel if you have a time.


You can roam around Kathmandu valley or you can do shoping.

After breakfast we will transfer you to Tribhuvan International airport (TIA) three hour before your flight you have to reach there

Cost Includes

  • Airport-Hotel-Airport transfer facilities in a private vehicle in Kathmandu
  • Stay in three star hotel or similar in Kathmandu.
  • Welcome Dinner in Kathmandu.
  • All permits cost including Expedition Royalty and permit of Nepal Government to climb Mt. Dhaulagiri.
  • One Government Liaison officer with full equipment ($2,500), salary and accommodation.

  • Expedition Stuffs Transportation: Necessary all equipment Transportation for all Members and Staffs .Luggage Up to 70 Kg per member for personal baggage during the trek carried by porters or Yaks.
  • 3 meals per day include breakfast, Lunch and Dinner including tea and coffee.
  • Experienced and well-trained Base Camp Cook & kitchen staffs.
  • All Nepalese staffs & porter’s daily wages, salary, equipment, insurances and other expenses.
  • Tent for each individual during the stay at Base Camp and sleeping and dining equipment.
  • Government Licensed High Altitude Climbing Guide with all his expenses.
  • Summit Oxygen cylinder: 5 oxygen bottles (4 liters.) for each member and 3-oxygen bottle for each high-altitude Sherpa. 
  • 1 Set of Summit Oxygen mask for each member and high-altitude Sherpa. 
  • Back up Oxygen Cylinder, mask and regulator (with appropriate charge).
  • 1 Rescue sled (Gamow bag) for emergency.
  • High Altitude Tent, Necessary cooking EPI gas, cooking pot for member, High food for member, Sherpa, all climbing and cooking crew. (C1) (C2) (C3) (C4). Group climbing gears, fixed and dynamic rope during the climbing period as per requirement.
  • The team of experienced Sherpas will fix the route In Dhaulagiri (no extra charge will be applied to members).
  • Satellite Phone for emergency communication carrying by Sherpa, also available for members with appropriate charge.
  • Walkie-Talkie: Walkie –Talkie for communicating from Base Camp to Mountain and Mountain to Base Camp.
  • Satellite Phone / walkie-talkie permits for all the expedition members and staffs.
  • Weather forecast report from Meteotest, Bern (Switzerland) during the entire expedition. 
  • Comprehensive Medical kit for members and staffs.
  • Dhaulagiri climbing certificate issued by MoCTCA (after climbing Mt. Dhaulagiri successfully).

Cost Excludes

  • Lunch and dinner during your stay in Kathmandu (except for the farewell dinner).
  • Any packed food/snacks, aerated drinks, energy drinks, mineral water, alcohol, cigarettes, chocolates, or any other food consumed beyond the prescribed breakfast, lunch and dinner.
  • Expenses incurred towards usage of landlines, mobiles, walkie-talkies, satellite phones and internet expenses.
  • Clothing, packing items or bags, personal medical kit, personal trekking gear.
  • Any extra expenses arising out of various/unforeseen situations like natural calamities, landslides, political disturbances, strikes, changes in government regulations, etc.
  • Transportation services includes only what is listed on the itinerary. Any extra distance travelled will be appropriately charged.
