Above 6000m Mountain Peaks

Nepal consists of more than 1310 mountains which are over 5500 meters (18,090 ft.) to 8848m (29,028ft) above sea level. Some of the mountain peaks above 6000m are also listed in Nepal mountaineering association. Among them Mera Peak (6476m) and Island peak (6,189m/20,305ft) and many others are known as “Trekking Peaks”. Most of the climbers say that Ama Dablam at 6,856 is Perfect Mountain to climb. Nirekha (6069m) is the lowest 6000m Peaks which is a bit difficult and lies in Khumbu Mahalangur   and Machapuchare (6,993) is the highest peaks among 6000m peak which is unclimbed up to now which lies on Annapurna range. Machapuchare has never been climbed to its summit. The only attempt was in 1957 by a British team led by Jimmy Roberts. Climbers Wilfrid Noyce and A. D. M. Cox climbed to within 50 m of the summit via the north ridge, but did not complete the ascent; they had promised not to set foot on the actual summit. Since then, the mountain has been declared sacred, and it is now forbidden to climbers.
