The real wilderness, amazing landscape, cultural diversity, furiously galloping snow fed rivers and pristene forest and the main eye popping factors of the trek. Api Himal base camp trek grants panoramic view of Thado Dhunga Tuppa(5,368m), Api Himal, Rajama(6,537m), Kapchuli(6850m), Mt Nandadevi(7817m) along with many other Himalayan peaks. There too is famous holy Lake Kalidhunga, which lies within one and half hours walk from Api Himal base camp trek.
In the far north west Nepalese Himalaya lies two Himalayan massif- Mt Saipal(7031m) and Mt Api(9132m), standing on the border of Garhwal and Tibet. Mt Api was first explored by Henry Savage Landor in 1899 and shortly after by renowned mountaineer Tom Longstaff.
Our trek begins from the frontier town of Darchula, trekking north along Mahakali River. This remote area is inhibited Bhotia people.
As your aircraft lands in Tribhuwan International Airport our representative will receive you and help you to transfer into the hotel of your choice.
Today we will start the day by visiting Pashupatinath temple which is situated 5km east of Kathmandu in the bank of holy Bagmati River. Pashupatinath is a pagoda shaped temple with tiered golden roofs and silver doors. Only the Hindu’s can visit the temple, but the visitors can clearly see the temple and activities performed in the temple premises from the eastern bank of Bagmati River where the dead bodies are cremated. From here we will visit Boudhanath Stupa which is located 8km east of Kathmandu. Boudhanath stupa is dome shaped monument representing the mind of Buddha and pilgrimage destination for Tantric Buddha. . In the afternoon we will drive to Patan Durbar Square which is situated in the southern area of the city. The square is dotted with ancient palaces, temples and shrines which are known for their antique and exquisite carvings. From here we will proceed to Kathmandu Durbar Square which is the historic seat of Nepalese royalty. Here we will visit Kastamandap Temple (a temple rumored to be constructed from the wood of single tree), Taleju temple, statue of Kal Vairab, Basantapur palace and Kumari Temple (residence of living goddess Kumari). After this we will pay our visit to Swoyambhunath temple which is listed in UNESCO World Heritage Site. The temple dates back to 2500years and is situated in the hilltop offering the astonishing view of Kathmandu. Return back to hotel for overnight stay.
Take a short airstrip from Kathmandu to Dhangadhi.
Drive to Dadheldhura and then to Darchula through the green foothills.
Leaving Darchula behind us trek to Hutti and then to Tinkar making our way through several small and isolated villages including Dumlin and Gaga.
Acclimatization and free day in Tinkar. Today we will be visiting last Bhotia people of Nepal.
We cross the high pass and then trek to Api Base Camp(4250m). next day we will explore and enjoy the natural flavors of Base Camp.
We will retrace our patch back to Darchula and then drive to Dadeldhura.
Catch a ride back to Kathmandu via Dhadgadhi.
Today you can either take rest or explore the city on your own or do some family shopping. Stay overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.
You will be transferred to Tribhuwan International airport for your onward journey
