End of Your Journey
Farewell to Nepal
As you soar into the skies, bid farewell to Nepal. Your journey through the heart of the Himalayas is a chapter in a larger story of exploration, self-discovery, and a connection to the awe-inspiring beauty of the natural world.
Typically, for the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek, you would need a three-layer jacket, a two-layer pant, a trekking pole, a pair of trekking shoes, two pairs of socks, gloves, a balaclava, and an extra set of nightwear to change into at night, along with a lightweight towel.
Certainly, you have the flexibility to adjust your plan; however, it's essential to note that the incurred package cost will be deducted, and additional charges will apply if you extend the trek beyond the original itinerary.
Certainly not, tips refer to a monetary gesture given to porters and guides as a token of appreciation for their hard work. It is entirely at the discretion of the individual.
During the peak season, the temperature remains moderate at 14 degrees Celsius, whereas in the off-season, there is fluctuation in temperature.
In cities like Kathmandu and Pokhara, electronic payment options are available. However, as you move away from urban areas, facilities for card and mobile banking payments become limited. Therefore, we advise carrying Nepali currency during the trek, which can be exchanged in Pokhara and Kathmandu.
The Ghorepani Poon Hill trek is a well-known, brief, and relatively easy trekking destination, with the duration of completion depending on the individual's physical and mental condition. This trek is particularly suitable for novice trekkers.
Typically, the journey from Pokhara takes around 3-4 days, although the duration may extend based on the company's itinerary and plans. Along the route, numerous guesthouses and restaurants offer opportunities to rest, enjoy tea and coffee, have meals, and find accommodations.
You have the option to either use a private vehicle or local buses to reach Birethati via Nayapul. From there, trek to Ulleri, where you can stay overnight. The next morning, continue your trek to Ghorepani. Alternatively, you may choose Tikhedhunga as your trek starting point and return via Ghandruk, passing through Tadapani.
While reaching the summit of Poon Hill directly by vehicle is not feasible, it is now possible to drive to Ghorepani. From there, you can hike to Poon Hill, a journey that can be completed in approximately an hour.
If you are a resident of Nepal, no additional permit is needed for trekking within the country. You only need a general entry pass at the trek checkpoint along the route. However, for international visitors, two permits are required, similar to the requirements for the Annapurna Sanctuary trek: the TIMS Card (Trekking Information Management System) and the ACAP permit (Annapurna Conservation Area Project).
As part of our package, the cost is 450 USD per person, covering the trek permit fee, arrangements for food and accommodation for 7 days, and private vehicle pickup and drop services. The overall cost may vary depending on the level of luxury you prefer.
The primary distinction between Annapurna and Poon Hill lies in the perspective: Annapurna offers a close-up view, while Poon Hill provides a panoramic view from a distance. Furthermore, the Annapurna Base Camp Trek is somewhat more challenging than the Poon Hill Trek, with steeper and longer routes that pose the risk of altitude sickness due to the higher elevation of the Annapurna Base Camp.
Poon Hill stands at an elevation of 3210 meters.
The trek is relatively short, and the decision to hire a porter depends on the amount of luggage you carry. If you are familiar with the trek route from a previous visit, a guide may not be necessary. However, for enhanced support, we recommend both a guide and a porter for those who are less acquainted with the route.
Initially, transporting goods encounters challenges because the roads are not sustainable. Goods are transported by mules, yaks, and sometimes porters along the trail, resulting in charges exceeding the cost price.

This trek was an amazing adventure. There were spectacular views of lush green hills and jungles, waterfalls, as well as snow capped mountains. This area of Nepal is remarkably beautiful and alive with wildlife. We saw monkeys in the jungle. Our guide, Mr. Lakpa Sherpa and porters Pasang and Uttam were fantastic. Lakpa was able to anticipate my every need. He was very caring and very careful. He even held my hand on difficult downhill descents. He was also very knowledgeable and was able to point out interesting sites and name the different mountain peaks. The food and accommodations during the trek were much better than I had anticipated. Every aspect of the trek was handled very professionally. I highly recommend Actual Adventures and especially would like to thank Lakpa, for all his effort to make this such a wonderful experience.

A popular one is the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek, which takes the dauntless from small villages and campsites and through stunning lands, and this four-day hike will reward you with beautiful sunrise views of the Himalayas. A very enjoyable trek. Poon hill was my first ever trek and at times I found the steps challenging but that's what makes this trip that more rewarding. My Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek with Actual Adventure was a soul-refreshing experience. The moment I landed in Kathmandu, Mr. Sushil Tiwari and his team made sure every arrangement was in place. The logistics, permits, and hotel bookings were smooth and stress-free. Our guide Dawa Tamang was incredible — cheerful, knowledgeable, and genuinely caring. The trail itself was a beautiful blend of terraced fields, rhododendron forests, and peaceful villages. Climbing up to Poon Hill at sunrise was surreal — watching the golden rays touch Annapurna and Dhaulagiri left me speechless. We had comfortable teahouse stays along the route, and Dawa made sure we had hot meals and warm beds after every day's trek. I also appreciated the pace — we never rushed and took enough breaks to enjoy the landscapes and local culture. The support from the porter was admirable too — always smiling despite the heavy load. I highly recommend Actual Adventure to anyone planning to trek in Nepal. Sushil’s coordination and his team’s attention to detail truly stood out. Thank you for this amazing Himalayan journey!

The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek with Actual Adventure was one of the best short treks I’ve done. From start to finish, Mr. Sushil Tiwari ensured we felt safe, well-informed, and taken care of. What really impressed me was our guide, Krishna Gurung, whose local insights, humor, and trekking experience enriched the journey. The trail offers amazing diversity — lush forests, ethnic Gurung villages, and of course, the stunning Himalayan panoramas. The early morning climb to Poon Hill was challenging but absolutely worth it. Seeing Machapuchare (Fishtail) and the Annapurna range bathed in sunrise hues is a memory I’ll always cherish. The teahouses we stayed in were cozy, clean, and had surprisingly good food. Krishna kept our spirits high and always made sure we were healthy and enjoying the trek. Actual Adventure handled everything from transport to permits very professionally. I also want to thank our porter, Pasang, for his constant smile and positive energy. If you’re looking for a scenic, well-managed trek in Nepal with personalized care, this is it. Sushil and team — thank you for such a seamless and unforgettable Himalayan experience.

I recently completed the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek with Actual Adventure, and I couldn’t have asked for a better trekking experience. From the moment I contacted them, Mr. Sushil Tiwari was prompt, helpful, and transparent with all information. Our guide, Pema Sherpa, was outstanding — he had an infectious energy and always had fascinating stories about the mountains, wildlife, and Sherpa traditions. The trek itself is a dream for photographers and nature lovers. We walked through dense rhododendron forests, crossed sparkling streams, and enjoyed the hospitality of the locals. Reaching Poon Hill at sunrise was magical — panoramic views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Dhaulagiri were breathtaking. The pacing of the trek was perfect — not too rushed, yet always progressing. Pema made sure we stayed hydrated and acclimatized, and he even helped us learn a few Nepali words along the way. The porter, Bikash, was an absolute gem — always smiling and helpful. Actual Adventure did an amazing job with every detail — thank you, Sushil! I came back feeling inspired, energized, and full of appreciation for the Himalayas and the people of Nepal.

I booked the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek with Actual Adventure after reading excellent reviews, and I must say they lived up to every word. Mr. Sushil Tiwari made all the pre-trip arrangements extremely smooth, providing clear communication and customized planning. Our guide, Laxman Rai, was superb — calm, supportive, and always willing to answer our endless questions. The trail is short but rich in diversity — charming villages, vibrant forests, and jaw-dropping views. The sunrise from Poon Hill is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen. I loved the balance of trekking challenge and cultural exposure. The teahouses were clean and welcoming, with hearty meals that fueled us each day. What made this trek special was the personal care — Laxman checked our oxygen levels regularly and adapted the pace based on the group’s comfort. I also want to thank our porter, Santosh, who handled our gear with such grace. Actual Adventure's team truly felt like family during the trek. I had an amazing time on the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek organized by Actual Adventure. Mr. Sushil Tiwari, the manager, was incredibly helpful from the beginning, arranging everything with great precision. Our guide, Rajendra Thapa, was a real highlight — friendly, patient, and full of knowledge about the region’s flora, fauna, and customs. The trek was relatively easy but filled with rewarding experiences. The trails wind through peaceful forests and traditional Gurung villages, and each day brought a new kind of beauty. The Poon Hill sunrise was everything people say and more — the snowcapped peaks glowing gold was worth the early morning wake-up call. Rajendra kept us safe, engaged, and motivated throughout. We stayed in cozy guesthouses and always had access to hot meals and warm tea. Our porter, Dilip, was also fantastic — he moved ahead each day and always welcomed us with a smile. Actual Adventure’s team made this journey unforgettable. I truly appreciated the personal attention and professionalism throughout the trek. Highly recommend them for anyone looking to explore the Annapurna region with a trusted company!
