FAQs

Is this trek suitable for beginners in yoga or trekking?

Yes, it’s perfect for beginners in both yoga and trekking.
The Pokhara – Poon Hill Yoga Trek is designed with a gentle pace and moderate elevation gain, making it ideal for those with average fitness levels. Daily walking hours range from 4–6 hours, and our professional guides ensure a slow, steady pace with enough rest and hydration breaks.

For yoga, no prior experience is necessary. The sessions are designed to suit all levels, with gentle Hatha and Vinyasa flow, breathing exercises (pranayama), and evening guided meditation or Yoga Nidra. The serene mountain setting helps both first-time and experienced practitioners connect deeply with their practice.

When is the best time to do this trek?

The best seasons are Spring (March–May) and Autumn (September–November).
During these months, the weather is clear, dry, and comfortable, offering spectacular views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Rhododendrons bloom in spring, while autumn brings crisp skies and cool mountain air—perfect for trekking and outdoor yoga sessions.

These periods also have fewer chances of rain or snow, ensuring safer and more enjoyable trails. Early morning yoga with Himalayan sunrises during these seasons is a truly magical experience. Winter (Dec–Feb) is also possible for those seeking a quieter trail with colder temperatures, while monsoon (June–August) is not recommended due to rain and leeches.

Do I need to bring my own yoga mat?

No, we can provide a clean and lightweight yoga mat for you.
If you're traveling light, we’ve got you covered—our yoga trek package includes personal yoga mats, cleaned and sanitized before each trek. However, if you prefer your own mat for comfort, especially if you're used to a particular thickness or texture, you're welcome to bring it along.

You may also wish to carry a lightweight travel towel or blanket for meditation and savasana (resting pose) sessions, especially at higher altitudes where mornings and evenings can be cool.

What type of accommodation is provided?

We provide comfortable mountain lodges and teahouses with basic but clean facilities.
The teahouses along the Poon Hill route are among the best in Nepal. They offer twin-sharing rooms, warm blankets, and hearty meals. Though simple, these lodges are cozy and perfect for unwinding after a day of trekking and yoga.

We select accommodations that have open spaces for yoga practice—either in a garden area, rooftop, or designated indoor space—ensuring a peaceful atmosphere for your wellness routine.

Hot showers are available at most places for a small additional cost. Wi-Fi and charging facilities are also available at key stops like Ghorepani and Ghandruk, although signals may be limited in some remote areas.

How difficult is the Pokhara to Poon Hill Yoga Trek?

This is considered an easy to moderate trek and is suitable for most people in good health.
The highest point of the trek is Poon Hill at 3,210 meters, which doesn't require technical climbing or high-altitude experience. The trek involves several ascents and descents through forested trails and stone staircases (especially from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani).

As long as you're reasonably active and prepared for some physical activity, you’ll find the trek enjoyable. Daily yoga and stretching sessions also help your body recover from trekking strain, improve flexibility, and prevent altitude-related discomfort.

What kind of food is served during the trek?

We serve healthy, mostly vegetarian meals with options to suit your dietary needs.
Meals during the trek are freshly cooked at teahouses and include traditional Nepali dishes like Dal Bhat (lentil soup with rice and vegetables), as well as options like pasta, noodles, soups, pancakes, porridge, and Tibetan bread.

As part of a yoga-focused itinerary, we prioritize nutritious, plant-based meals that support energy, digestion, and wellness. Vegan and gluten-free options are available upon request. We also encourage trekkers to stay hydrated with herbal teas and clean boiled water (refill stations available).

Do I need travel insurance for this yoga trek?

Yes, travel insurance is highly recommended.
While the Pokhara – Poon Hill trek is not high-risk, it's still essential to be covered for medical emergencies, trip cancellations, or altitude-related issues. Your insurance should include emergency evacuation by helicopter, just in case.

It’s a good idea to purchase a policy that supports active trekking up to 3,500 meters and includes coverage for any yoga or wellness activities. We’re happy to guide you on this or recommend reliable insurance providers.

Can this trek be customized for private yoga groups or retreats?

Absolutely! We offer fully customized yoga treks for private groups, yoga teachers, and retreat organizers.
If you're a yoga instructor or wellness brand looking to host a retreat, we can tailor the trek to include personalized yoga themes, chanting sessions, Ayurvedic meals, and even optional spa and hot spring visits. You can choose luxury or eco-lodge upgrades, rest days, or side excursions to create the perfect flow for your group.

We also provide assistance with logistics, marketing support, and local guides to make the retreat smooth and memorable.
