Leadership in Nepal’s Tourism Associations
Kedar’s work goes beyond running his own company. He holds roles in two of the country’s most important tourism bodies, where he helps shape how Nepal looks after its trekkers, climbers and the industry as a whole.
Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN): Sub-Committee Member, Crisis Management (2013-2015)
TAAN is the national umbrella organisation for trekking agencies. It works to keep trekking in Nepal safe, professional and sustainable. As a member of its Crisis Management Sub-Committee, Kedar helps prepare the trekking sector for emergencies and respond when they happen. That work includes:
- coordinating responses to natural disasters, extreme weather and route closures that affect trekkers in the mountains
- supporting rescue and evacuation coordination between agencies, rescue operators and government bodies
- helping trekkers, guides and their families get accurate, timely information in a crisis
- encouraging stronger safety standards, emergency planning and preparedness across member agencies
- helping the industry recover after a crisis and rebuild international confidence in Nepal as a safe destination
This work gives him first-hand knowledge of the safety and support systems behind every trek in Nepal. He shares that knowledge with partners and travellers during the Yatra.
Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA): Board Member and Event Coordinator, 2025–2028
The NMA is Nepal’s national mountaineering body. It promotes mountaineering, administers climbing on many of Nepal’s peaks, and supports training and welfare for climbers and mountain workers. Kedar was recently elected to its Board for the 2025–2028 term and serves as Event Coordinator. In this role he:
- plans and coordinates NMA events, such as mountaineering celebrations, awareness programmes, clean-up campaigns and international mountain days
- helps promote Nepal’s peaks and climbing heritage to the international mountaineering community
- supports programmes that honour and benefit Nepal’s climbers, guides and high-altitude workers
- builds links between the NMA, the tourism trade and partners abroad
The Worldwide Yatra brings these roles together. Kedar travels as a business leader and also as a representative of Nepal’s trekking and mountaineering community, with a clear message: Nepal’s mountains are open, well managed and ready to welcome the world.
