Chitwan

Chitwan, meaning “Heart of the Jungle,” is one of Nepal’s most captivating lowland regions, renowned for its tropical climate, lush forests, and incredible biodiversity. Located about 170 km southwest of Kathmandu, Chitwan is easily accessible via a 5–6 hour scenic drive or a 25-minute flight to Bharatpur Airport, followed by a short drive to Sauraha—the main gateway to the park.

The centerpiece of the region is Chitwan National Park, Nepal’s first national park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, established in 1973. Spanning 932 square kilometers, the park is a pristine haven of sal forests, grasslands, and riverine landscapes nourished by the Rapti, Reu, and Narayani Rivers. It offers one of the most authentic wildlife experiences in Asia.
