The distance of 130 km is based on the standard itinerary via Namche, Tengboche, Dingboche, Lobuche, and Everest Base Camp, which is from Lukla to Lukla. However, the one-way distance from Lukla to Everest Base Camp (EBC) is approximately 65 kilometers (40 miles), which is completed in 7-8 days as you will return by helicopter on your final day. The daily trek will cover an average distance of around 12 km with 6-7 hours of walking.
Obviously, you may face a language barrier when dealing with local people. However, since the route to Everest is a tourist site and a business route, even local people can easily communicate in English.
